Simay Akbas: Destek Patent Head of Foreign Affairs & trade mark attorney
Simay has over 13 years of experience in the IP profession. She is the Head of Foreign Affairs of The International Operations Department at Destek Patent, Turkey and she has been practicing as a trademark attorney since 2013.
She specializes in IP consultancy, mainly building overall strategies for trademarks while entering new markets, dealing with settlement agreements, and coordinating opposition & litigation cases in various jurisdictions.
Simay mostly focused on the challenges of IP rights in Middle East and North Africa.
She is also a mentor of ITU (Istanbul Technical University) and helps Start-Ups to design their IP strategies.
Simay is an active Member of INTA, AIPPI, ECTA and MARQUES and serves as a Committee Member in various committees since 2015.
