Breaking down barriers with new EDI Starter Pack
IP Inclusive has launched a new set of resources focused on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) to support new recruits to the IP profession.
After setting out key objectives to support new entrants to the sector in its recent business plan, IP Inclusive has created a starter pack that delves into all aspects of EDI with input from key stakeholders across the sector.
The pack is divided into two parts, with the first part covering a general introduction to EDI, IP Inclusive and how to get involved, and part two focusing on allyship in the sector. On its website, IP Inclusive states, “The idea is that it could be included as two separate modules in, say, an induction programme, or posted on a company intranet.”
The new resources also provide the chance to hear directly from IP Inclusive volunteers, with a series of informative videos built into the pack, including ‘Volunteering with IP Inclusive’, ‘IP Inclusive’s Impact’, and ‘Why is EDI Important?’ While these have been produced with new recruits in mind, IP Inclusive believes they provide a great introduction to EDI and allyship for others who may be less knowledgeable or confident on these topics.
Additionally, features such as alt-text and reading order have been implemented, along with producing small file size, black and white versions of the pack to ensure greater accessibility.
IP Inclusive views the starter pack as a ‘living document’, allowing the opportunity for feedback and changes to be incorporated in the future. You can find out more and access the starter pack here.
