21st Nov 2023

The new rates will come into force from 1st January 2024.

The Russian Federation, European Union and African Intellectual Property Organization will all now be cheaper to file designs in.

However, the price of designating Canada is expected to rise.

The new reductions follow a fall of approximately 20% in the cost of individually designating China in Hague design applications, which came into force earlier in the year.

To help predict filing costs and navigate the changes, the WIPO’s Hague System fee calculation can be accessed here.

The Hague System, administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is a way of filing a design in multiple jurisdictions with one application.

The rate changes are as follows. As a guide, 1CHF (Swiss Franc) is currently equal to approximately €1.03 or £0.90.
